The tsuka measures 11.02 inches and is built around a core wrapped in genuine white rayskin, the pebbly samegawa texture providing grip even through the black cotton ito bound over it. The diamond-pattern ito wrap is secured in the traditional diagonal style, and two bamboo mekugi pegs pass through the handle to pin the tang - allowing disassembly without tools for inspection or maintenance.
