Product Details

The 21.25-inch folded damascus steel blade is the core of this wakizashi, brought to 60 HRC hardness through a hand-finishing process that also reveals a natural hamon line tracing the edge. The layered steel pattern emerges across the chrome-finished surface, and a dragon engraving runs along the flat of the blade - a detail that ties traditional Japanese sword aesthetics to the piece's overall visual identity. For collectors interested in pattern-welded construction, our Brown Pattern Steel Wakizashi collection offers additional options in this style.

The tsuka runs 10.23 inches and is wrapped in black polyurethane leather over white samegawa-style underlayer, producing the familiar diamond-pattern ito spacing visible in the photos. The wrap is firm and evenly tensioned throughout, with a black sageo cord completing the handle assembly.

The tsuba is cast from real copper in an antique gold finish and features a sculpted lion motif - detailed in relief across both faces. The koshirae-style fitting sits flush at the habaki and adds a warm metallic accent against the black handle wrap. A matching copper koiguchi reinforces the saya mouth for a cohesive fittings set.

The saya is shaped from natural hardwood and finished in warm brown with a piano lacquer surface coat. At 22.44 inches it follows the blade's curvature closely, and the black sageo cord is tied at the kurikata in a traditional knot as shown. The lacquer finish catches light evenly without appearing plastic - the grain of the wood is visible beneath the gloss.

Overall length is 32.67 inches and the piece weighs 2.2 lbs, making it a well-balanced addition to any Japanese sword collection. The full-tang construction and koshirae-style fittings give it the proportions of a traditional companion sword.

Minus a star for poor sheath retention which I fixed with a thin layer of wood glue.

Good blade and handle quality otherwise.

Beautiful piece, the only negative I have to say is the saya is a little loose to hold the sword. Other than that, I am very satisfied with my purchase.

Absolutely beautiful! Incredibly well built as well. Stunning... Definitely the real deal, not a imitation. Thanks!
