Product Details

The 29-inch blade is forged from folded T10 carbon steel, producing visible Damascus-style grain patterns along the surface. Clay tempering creates a distinct real hamon line while achieving differential hardness - the edge reaches 58 HRC for solid retention, while the spine remains flexible. The hand-finished edge and traditional polishing process bring out the natural character of the steel, making each blade visually unique. This Clay Tempered Samurai Sword represents a refined approach to classical Japanese blade craft.

The 10.25-inch tsuka uses full tang construction, with the blade extending through the entire handle for balanced weight distribution and structural integrity. Black polyurethane leather wraps over a black samegawa base layer, delivering a textured grip surface that echoes the look of traditional ray skin. Black ito cord is tightly wound in an alternating diamond pattern, providing additional traction and a clean, understated aesthetic.

The gold-tone alloy tsuba features a round disc shape engraved with Japanese kanji characters and a bamboo leaf motif. A small gold habaki collar sits at the blade-tsuba junction, adding visual contrast against the chrome-toned steel. The guard's weathered brass finish gives it an aged, authentic appearance that complements the overall color scheme.

The 29.5-inch hardwood saya is the centerpiece of this katana's visual identity. An intricately embossed dragon relief wraps around the scabbard body, rendered in gold, copper, and deep orange tones against a glossy black lacquer base. The dragon motif symbolizes power and wisdom in Japanese tradition. Brown and gold braided sageo cord is tied at the koiguchi in a decorative knot pattern that echoes the warm metallic palette of the dragon artwork.

At 41 inches in total length and 4.4 lbs, this T10 Steel Katana balances substantial presence with displayable proportions. The combination of folded Damascus steel construction, clay tempered hamon, and detailed dragon-themed saya creates a collector's piece that rewards close inspection from every angle. Sword stand or holder is sold separately.

Frequently Asked Questions

What steel and hardness does this folded katana have?
This katana uses folded T10 carbon steel with Damascus-style grain visible on the blade surface. Clay tempering creates differential hardness - the cutting edge reaches 58 HRC while the spine stays flexible. The process produces a real, natural hamon temper line along the 29-inch blade.
Is the dragon design on the saya carved or painted?
The dragon artwork on the 29.5-inch hardwood saya is created through an embossing process that raises the design in three-dimensional relief. The dragon appears in gold, copper, and deep orange tones over a glossy black lacquer base, giving it visible depth and texture rather than a flat printed look.
What is the tsuba design and material on this katana?
The round tsuba is made from gold-tone alloy featuring engraved Japanese kanji characters and a bamboo leaf motif. It has a weathered brass-like finish that gives it an aged, authentic appearance. A gold habaki collar sits between the tsuba and blade, adding contrast against the chrome-toned steel.

The sword itself is amazing, and the sheath is even better with the burned wood effect, however the sheath itself slides off the blade very easily, making it unable to be picked up without the risk of the sheath sliding right off. Overall however i am satisifed.

Packaging was really good.
Engraving looks good.
Katana rattles when in the Saya. Katana also comes out of the Saya far too easily.
Not as sharp as I was hoping.

I usually don't leave reviews on online purchases. I do want to express my impression on the katana sword from truekatana.com. I have been a martial artist since 1968. Although I practiced Kendo for some years, I have not owned a Japanese sword since 1977. I am so impressed with the quality of workmanship on the sword I purchased. A lot of work was put in to making this sword of such superior quality. I'm certain that thete are better made swords at this website but the sword I purchased more than suffices my need for occasional practice. I highly recommend this website for anyone looking to purchase a quality made sword.

Shipping is quick and quality is better than I expected. But the import tax is killing me as I am living in Canada, basically paying 1/3 the price of the sword just the tax.
