Product Details

This 1095 carbon steel katana is clay tempered to produce a distinctive hamon line that zigzags along the rose gold finished blade. The 28.5-inch full tang blade achieves 58 HRC hardness through differential heat treatment, creating a harder edge and more resilient spine. The warm copper-gold tone across the blade surface catches light in a way that separates this piece from standard polished steel swords. Collectors drawn to this finish will also appreciate our broader Rose Gold Sword collection.

The 10.25-inch tsuka is built on a hardwood core wrapped in PU black samegawa for texture, then finished with tight black cotton cord in a traditional diamond-pattern wrap. The fuchi and kashira feature a copper-toned alloy with fine scale-like texturing that visually bridges the dark handle and the warm blade.

At the guard, an alloy tsuba in a dark patina finish displays irregular hollow cutouts in an organic, vine-like pattern. A gold-tone seppa ring sits between the tsuba and habaki, adding a subtle accent that echoes the blade's rose gold color. The overall effect is layered and intentional rather than purely decorative.

The hardwood saya is finished in high-gloss piano lacquer with a dramatic painted scene - a vivid red and gold koi fish leaping through crashing waves alongside blue and pink lotus blossoms. The design transitions from a white base near the koiguchi to deep black toward the kurikata, where a black sageo cord is tied. This painted saya is the visual centerpiece of the piece and draws from traditional Japanese tattoo art motifs.

At 41 inches in overall length and 4.5 lbs in weight, this is a full-size katana with genuine presence on a wall mount or display stand. The combination of 1095 clay tempered steel construction, rose gold blade finish, and hand-painted koi saya makes it a distinctive addition to any Japanese sword collection. Display stand is not included.

  • Forged from 1095 carbon steel using clay tempering, this full tang blade reaches 58 HRC hardness with a visible hamon line and a striking rose gold finish across the entire surface.
  • Black cord-wrapped tsuka over PU black samegawa sits on a 10.25-inch hardwood handle, delivering a secure grip that balances the 28.5-inch blade with confidence.
  • Hardwood saya finished in glossy piano lacquer features a hand-painted koi fish and lotus design in vivid red, gold, and blue tones over a white-to-black gradient base.
  • Alloy tsuba in a dark copper tone with irregular hollow cutouts adds an open, sculptural quality to the guard, paired with a gold-tone habaki and copper-finished fuchi-kashira.
  • Overall length measures 41 inches with a total weight of 4.5 lbs - a substantial, full-size katana built for display and collection.

Frequently Asked Questions

What steel and heat treatment does this katana use?
This katana is forged from 1095 carbon steel and clay tempered to achieve 58 HRC hardness at the edge. The clay tempering process creates the visible zigzag hamon line along the rose gold finished blade and produces a harder cutting edge with a more flexible spine.
Is the koi fish design on the saya hand-painted?
Yes, the koi fish and lotus blossom scene is painted onto the hardwood saya beneath a high-gloss piano lacquer finish. The design features a vivid red and gold koi leaping through waves with blue and pink lotus flowers, set against a white-to-black gradient background.
What materials are the tsuba and handle fittings made from?
The tsuba is made from alloy with a dark copper patina and features irregular hollow cutouts in an organic pattern. The fuchi and kashira are copper-toned alloy with scale texturing, and a gold-tone seppa ring accents the guard assembly. The handle uses PU black samegawa under black cord wrap.
