Product Details

The blade is forged from T10 carbon steel and heat-treated with an oil-quench process that produces a genuine hamon line visible along the 28.3-inch nagasa. The chrome-bright finish is achieved through hand-grinding and hand-polishing, bringing out the contrast between the hardened edge and the softer spine. The result is a visually compelling temper pattern that collectors of Orange T10 Carbon Steel Katana will recognize as a hallmark of this steel type.

The full tang extends the entire length of the tsuka, ensuring the blade and handle form a single continuous unit. The 10.2-inch handle is wrapped in black ito cord over a white ray-skin (samegawa) base, creating the classic diamond-window pattern seen in traditional koshirae mountings. A carved black kashira caps the pommel, while a matching collar piece completes the handle assembly.

The tsuba is cast from alloy and finished in a silver-gold two-tone palette. Its round form features an open geometric lattice - a honeycomb-style cutout pattern on the outer ring - paired with engraved bamboo and line motifs on the iron-colored center plate. This design sits at the intersection of decorative and historically referenced Japanese guard work.

The saya is crafted from natural hardwood and finished in a warm, speckled orange with visible texture across the surface. A silver-toned kojiri protects the tip, and three black sageo cord ties secure the scabbard with a clean, symmetrical wrap. The overall color contrast between the orange saya and black tsuka wrapping gives this piece a distinctive shelf presence.

At 41 inches overall and 3 lbs, this katana ships in a 43 x 4 x 4 inch package weighing 4 lbs. Specifications: nagasa 28.3 in / 72 cm, tsuka 10.2 in / 26 cm, saya material natural hardwood, tsuba material alloy, blade material T10 carbon steel, full tang. A strong choice for collectors drawn to Orange Sageo Japanese Samurai Swords with traditional koshirae fittings.

Frequently Asked Questions

What steel and heat treatment does this katana use?
The blade is forged from T10 carbon steel and processed with heat treatment followed by oil quenching, which creates a real, visible hamon line along the 28.3-inch nagasa - not an etched or artificial pattern.
Is the tsuka construction full tang on this sword?
Yes - the full tang runs the entire length of the 10.2-inch tsuka. The handle is wrapped in black ito cord over white ray-skin samegawa in a traditional diamond pattern, capped with a carved black kashira.
What are the tsuba design and saya finish details?
The round alloy tsuba features a silver-gold two-tone finish with an open geometric lattice cutout and engraved bamboo motifs. The natural hardwood saya is finished in warm speckled orange with a silver kojiri and three-point black sageo cord wrap.

Its a very nice piece. I am happy with my sword. The blade is sharp and flawless. The fittings are tight and it fits tight into the scabbard. Im not an expert but it seems really high quality. I would purchase from TK again.

I'm a craftsman and a quality inspector. I can say with confidence this blade was crafted by an expert with care and attention to detail. I have already ordered a tang dynasty sword from their Chinese sword collection, and I will buy more to bolster my collection. Excellent swords, I'm very impressed.
