Product Details

This shikomizue features a 28.5-inch folded Damascus steel blade with a vivid blue and purple layered grain pattern visible across the entire surface. The folding process creates swirling, organic lines throughout the steel, giving each piece a one-of-a-kind appearance. Hardened to 58 HRC, the blade holds a refined edge and displays the deep color tones characteristic of treated multilayer steel. The tip is ground to a sharp chisel point, consistent with traditional tanto-style geometry.

The handle is crafted from natural hardwood with a smooth, pale finish that mimics the look of a simple walking stick - the defining feature of shikomizue design. At 10.25 inches, the grip provides comfortable handling, and the unadorned surface keeps the sword's true nature hidden in plain sight. A small carved floral crest is inset into the wood near the top of the saya, adding a subtle decorative touch.

Where the blade meets the handle housing, an alloy collar with an openwork lattice pattern in antique brass tone serves as the habaki. This piece features a detailed floral cutout design that contrasts beautifully against the dark Damascus steel beneath it. A black spacer ring separates the brass-toned fitting from the natural wood, creating a clean visual break between materials.

The saya is constructed from hardwood with a natural, light-toned finish that shows the wood grain clearly. At 28.5 inches, it fully conceals the Damascus blade when sheathed, and the overall piece reads as an elegant wooden staff rather than a sword. The end cap features a matching black accent band that ties the design together. Browse our full selection of Handmade Damascus Sword pieces for more folded steel options.

At 41 inches in total length and 4.5 lbs, this shikomizue carries real presence as a display piece. The pairing of pale natural wood with the deep blue-purple Damascus blade creates a dramatic reveal when drawn. For collectors drawn to the intersection of stealth and craftsmanship, this cane sword offers a distinctive addition. See also our Black Damascus Sword collection for alternative Damascus colorways.

Frequently Asked Questions

What steel is used in this shikomizue blade?
The blade is forged from folded Damascus steel with multiple layers that produce the visible blue and purple swirling grain pattern. It is hardened to 58 HRC, and the full tang construction extends through the entire 10.25-inch handle for structural integrity.
How does the shikomizue cane sword design work?
The 28.5-inch Damascus blade is fully concealed inside a natural hardwood saya that resembles an ordinary wooden walking stick. The pale wood finish and carved floral medallion give no outward indication of the sword within, staying true to traditional shikomizue disguise.
What are the fittings and decorative details on this piece?
The habaki collar is made from alloy with an antique brass-toned openwork floral lattice pattern. A black spacer ring separates it from the natural wood saya, and a small carved floral crest is inset into the scabbard surface for a refined finishing touch.

Only complaint I had with my first order, in that the sheathe was a bit chipped, was not present here. The swords and their scabbards are in great condition I couldn't be happier with the products, very good stuff!

awesome sword! great quality and sharpens w ease. i wish it fit a little more secure in the sheath, when carrying it bounces around a little. one thing i would like like to note is that the finish on the handle does make it really slick in the bare hands when swinging.
