T10 Carbon Steel Katana with Red Lacquered Hardwood Saya - Gold Chrysanthemum Tsuba, Red-Black Ito

The blade on this katana is forged from T10 carbon steel, shaped by hand into a classic single-edge profile with a moderate curve and a clean kissaki. The polished chrome-tone surface carries a natural hamon line running the length of the nagasa - the result of the heat treatment process rather than etching - giving the steel a layered, cloud-like visual texture visible along the edge. The full-tang construction runs the steel continuously through the handle, reinforcing the bond between blade and tsuka.

The tsuka is built over a hardwood core wrapped first in black samegawa (ray-skin) for grip texture, then bound in red-black ito using a traditional diagonal diamond pattern. The crossing of black and red cord creates a bold two-tone appearance, and small red menuki fittings are secured beneath the wrap at the center of the grip. The handle proportions suit a standard two-handed grip.

At the transition point between blade and handle, a copper habaki seats the blade securely within the saya and provides the locking friction when sheathed. Mounted above it, the tsuba is cast in a gold tone and shaped in a classic rounded form, its entire surface covered in chrysanthemum floral relief - petals radiating outward in tight, detailed clusters. The seppa on either side frame the guard cleanly.

The saya is constructed from hardwood finished in a deep red lacquer, the surface smooth and glossy with the grain of the wood visible beneath the coating. A black-red twisted sageo cord is attached at the kurigata, its braided length adding texture and traditional detail to the otherwise sleek sheath.
