High Manganese Steel Katana with Silver Dragon Saya - White Ito, Hamon Blade, Full Tang

The blade on this katana is forged from high manganese steel and hand-finished to a chrome-toned polish that catches light along its full 41-inch length. A distinct hamon line runs the edge, the result of differential heat treatment that gives each blade its own character. The geometry is classic - a clean shinogi-zukuri profile with a well-defined kissaki and a natural curve that reflects traditional Japanese sword proportions. The tsuka is wrapped in white ray-skin (samegawa) beneath a tight diamond-pattern white ito binding, giving the handle both visual weight and a consistent grip surface. Two amber-tone menuki are set beneath the wrap, visible through the ito as small decorative accents that break up the clean white tone of the handle.

The tsuba is a standout component - a round silver alloy guard with high-relief dragon carving across both faces. Gold-tone inlay accents the dragon detail at center, creating a focal point that reads clearly against the silver ground. The habaki and seppa are finished in gold tone, bridging the dark blade and the silver fittings with a warm accent.

The saya is lacquered hardwood finished in silver, with continuous engraved dragon and cloud motifs running from throat to tip. The texture gives the scabbard visual depth and a hand-worked feel that plain lacquer finishes don't achieve. A black-and-white braided sageo is tied at the kurikata in a traditional knot, adding the only two-tone contrast element to an otherwise monochromatic silver-and-white presentation.

At 41 inches overall and 3 lbs, this is a full-size piece with genuine presence on a stand or mounted on a wall. Each sword is individually handmade, so minor variation in hamon pattern and finish tone is inherent to the process. Sword stand not included.
