What sets this piece apart visually is the hand-engraved cherry blossom scene on the blade flat - ink-wash style bare branches carry red blossoms and a painted rose against the bright silver ground. The engraving runs along the lower third of the blade and is detailed enough to read clearly from a distance.

The tsuka is wrapped in white cotton ito over red PU samegawa, with red diamond-shaped menuki spaced evenly along the grip. The braiding is firm and even, with ivory-toned same peeking through the gaps in a traditional pattern. Fuchi and kashira are finished in matching alloy fittings.

The black iron tsuba carries a chrysanthemum and animal relief in gold and silver gilding - a koshirae-style design with depth and contrast. The seppa and habaki are fitted cleanly at the blade collar, keeping the assembly tight without play.

The saya is shaped from hardwood and finished in a warm brown natural lacquer. A braided sageo in mixed brown, red, and orange cord is attached at the kurikata.
