1060 Carbon Steel Chokuto Ninjato in Black-Gold Cloud Saya with Brown Cord Handle

The blade on this chokuto is ground from 1060 carbon steel and shaped in the straight-spine profile traditional to the ninjato form. Unlike curved tachi or katana, the chokuto's geometry is direct and linear, with a chrome-polished finish that catches light evenly along the flat. There is no hamon on this blade - the surface is clean and unadorned, letting the steel's natural polish do the work. The handle is constructed as a full-tang tsuka, meaning the steel extends completely through the grip. White PU samegawa provides the base layer, and brown cotton cord is wrapped over it in a tight diamond-pattern ito, creating the familiar raised nodes that run the length of the handle. The cord is 10mm in width and wound for a firm, non-slip grip. Copper fittings at the habaki and collar warm up the otherwise cool steel tones.

The tsuba is cast iron, finished in matte black, and shaped as a rounded disc with cut-out floral motifs - five-petal flower openings spaced around the face. The design reads clearly against the pale blade and brown ito, providing a distinct visual break between handle and blade. A gold-tone accent ring frames the tsuba face on one side, picking up the gold detailing found on the saya.

The saya is built from hardwood and finished in black lacquer, then decorated with a gold cloud pattern - irregular splashes and drifts of gold applied across the full length of the scabbard. The effect is bold and painterly, a strong contrast to the subdued blade. A brown sageo cord is attached at the kurigata and tied in a flat decorative knot.
