Damascus Steel Tanto with Black Lacquer Saya in Brown Cord & Gold-Black Tsuba

The full tang construction extends the entire length of the handle, creating a solid connection between blade and grip. This internal structure is what separates a well-made tanto from a purely ornamental piece - the weight distribution feels intentional rather than hollow.

The tsuka is wrapped in brown cotton cord ito over a foundation of real white samegawa, arranged in the traditional diamond-pattern style. The white ray skin diamonds show through the brown wrap at regular intervals, adding visual texture and a secure surface that doesn't shift during handling.

The tsuba is where the koshirae-style detailing concentrates. Cast in a gold-black finish, it carries an ornate scroll motif with fine relief work across the surface. The warm gold tones read particularly well against the brown tsuka-ito and the matching brown-and-white braided sageo. A small black bead anchors the sageo knot at the mouth of the saya.

The saya is finished in black hardwood lacquer with a smooth, even surface.
