Product Details

The blade on this wakizashi is forged from T10 carbon steel with a full-tang construction, ground to a clean geometry that highlights the naturally occurring hamon line along the edge. That hamon - a product of differential heat treatment - runs the length of the polished chrome-finish nagasa, giving collectors a genuine visual marker of the tempering process without any embellishment.

The tsuka is wrapped in dark blue ito cord in a traditional diamond pattern over black PU samegawa, secured with silver-tone menuki accents visible through the wrap. The handle sits at a balanced proportion relative to the blade, providing a solid, two-handed grip that feels intentional rather than decorative. For collectors interested in a broader range of similar builds, the Black Cord Handle Wakizashi collection offers several comparable configurations.

The tsuba is a standout element - cast in a gold tone with ornate scroll relief work across its full surface. The flowing cloud or wave motifs are carved into both faces, creating depth that catches light from different angles. It pairs visually with the silver habaki and fuchi to create a deliberate contrast against the dark handle wrap.

The black hardwood saya is finished in a smooth lacquer coat, keeping a matte-to-satin sheen that complements the overall dark palette. A dark blue sageo cord is knotted at the kurigata and finished with tasseled ends, adding the one accent of texture against the otherwise clean saya surface. This piece sits within the broader Black T10 Carbon Steel Wakizashi category for those building a themed collection.

At 30.3 inches overall and 2.1 lbs, this wakizashi carries well in hand and displays cleanly on a horizontal mount. Packaged at 33.4 x 3.9 x 3.14 inches with a shipping weight of 3.3 lbs - note that a sword stand is not included. A considered piece for collectors who want traditional koshirae aesthetics in a compact, manageable format.
