Handmade Japanese Short Tanto Sword Pattern Steel With Red Saya |
The package arrived in good shape and a few days earlier than expected.
The Shirasaya Tanto TK-JZ-KT-L190016 shortsword appears to be well made and of good quality. I will put a final edge on the blade and polish up the brass fittings to bring it to it ‘s full potential . I am very satisfied.

Handmade Japanese Shirasaya Tanto Sword Damascus Steel |
Love the quality and the craftsmanship on it. My problem is that the blade doesn't stick well on to the saya and the tsuba is bent by a little bit. Other than that, looks great.

I like the fact it has a tight fit in the scabbard. I can practice with it and it wont fall out and I can get it razor sharp.

Handmade Japanese Tanto Sword With Camouflage Scabbard |
The first order a full-size katana was exceptional, I mean it was/is perfect. The craftsmen and artists who made it must be commended, beautiful work. The tanto sword not so much. The tsuka mountings, fuchi and kashira, extend above the tsuka-ito and make it uncomfortable to hold. The habaki fit to the saya was loose and the blade rattled in the saya but I was able to fix both. The sageo wrap on the saya was loose but I can tighten it myself. It appears the attention to fit was a bit off as was the quality control for that sword. But I understand we all have off days. At first glance the tanto looks good and when displayed with the katana as intended it will do.
On the upside dealing with TrueKatana was a pleasure! Thank you.

The Tanto, although not technically qualifying in the category of swords, is the traditional Japanese dagger. It can have a single or double edge. It acts like a wakizashi and is worn at all times. The main purpose of a tanto is to be used as a stabbing instrument but having a pretty sharp edge, it can be used to slice and cut. The Tanto has become more ornate over the years and towards the end of the Samurai era, they were mostly used as decorative pieces, and still are mostly used in decorations to this date.
