Product Details

This katana features a T10 carbon steel blade that has been folded and clay tempered to achieve a genuine hamon line along the edge. The clay tempering process creates differential hardness - a 60 HRC cutting edge paired with a more resilient spine - resulting in a blade that holds its refined edge while maintaining flexibility. The 28.34-inch nagasa displays a polished chrome finish that highlights the natural wave pattern of the hamon.

The 10.62-inch tsuka is built on a full tang core, wrapped in black PU samegawa and bound tightly with black cotton ito cord. Gold menuki peek through the wrapping pattern, adding subtle contrast against the otherwise all-black handle. The construction provides a secure, traditional grip that balances the blade's weight at 2.42 lbs total.

At the junction of handle and blade sits a striking dual-tone alloy tsuba - a silver openwork frame with a gold dragon figure coiled through the design. This ornate guard draws immediate attention and serves as the focal point among the sword's fittings. A polished gold habaki seats firmly beneath the tsuba, locking the blade securely into the saya. The 29.52-inch saya is crafted from hardwood with a matte black textured finish that resembles fine stone grain. A black sageo wraps around the gold kurikata, and the overall dark palette gives the scabbard a restrained, understated presence. For more options in this style, see our Black Leather Saya Japanese Samurai Swords selection.

With an overall length of 40.15 inches and a cohesive black-and-gold color scheme throughout, this katana is designed for collectors who value traditional forging techniques paired with bold decorative hardware. Every fitting - from the dragon tsuba to the matte saya - is coordinated to create a display piece with strong visual presence.

Great product it and finish work well done. Wrap was tight, and the blade was straight. I had a previous shipment where the guard was bent on one side but I took care of that in the vice. This is my 6th order from true katana. I wish the shipping was faster, but at this point I guess I'm glad I'm getting anything out of China.
