Product Details

The blade on this wakizashi is forged from T10 carbon steel and heat treated with an oil quench, producing a visible hamon line that runs along the edge. The hand-finished surface shows the characteristic temper contrast between the hardened edge and the body of the blade, making the hamon a genuine structural feature rather than an etched decoration. At 41 inches overall and 3 lbs, the proportions are true to the wakizashi form. This piece is part of our Multi-colored T10 Carbon Steel Wakizashi collection.

The full tang extends through the entire tsuka, which is wrapped in brown ito over a white same (ray skin) base. The diamond-pattern wrap leaves the white same nodes visible between each cross, following the traditional tsuka-maki construction. The overall grip feel is firm and well-seated, with no flex between handle and blade.

The tsuba is cast alloy in a black-and-gold two-tone finish, with raised dragon reliefs carved across both faces. The fuchi and kashira collars carry the same black-and-gold dragon motif, giving the koshirae a unified design language from collar to pommel. A square cream-colored menuki sits centered on the tsuba face visible in the detail shot.

The saya is built from hardwood with a red lacquer finish applied over a textured surface that shows gold and amber flecks throughout - a deliberate multi-colored effect rather than a flat coat. The koiguchi fitting is black with gold dragon engraving, echoing the tsuba hardware. A brown sageo cord is attached at the kurikata. Browse more options in our Red Wakizashi Sword collection.

At 41 inches overall with a 3 lb weight and a 43 x 4 x 4 inch package footprint, this wakizashi is sized for horizontal wall mounting or upright display stand use. The koshirae-style full fitting set - tsuba, fuchi, kashira, sageo, and lacquered saya - makes it a complete presentation piece. Note: display stand is not included.
