Product Details

The blade on this wakizashi is forged from T10 carbon steel and heat-treated with an oil quench, producing a chrome-polished finish and a clearly defined real hamon along the edge. The temper line runs the full length of the nagasa, giving the blade visual depth that sets it apart from plain-finished replicas. At 31 inches overall, it sits in classic wakizashi proportions and carries a full tang for structural integrity throughout the handle. Browse our Black T10 Carbon Steel Wakizashi collection to see how this blade fits within a broader range of T10 builds.

The tsuka is wrapped in brown ito cord in a traditional diamond pattern, with blue ray-skin visible in the open diamonds underneath. The contrast between the warm brown wrap and the cooler blue underlayer gives the handle a layered, two-tone appearance that carries through the rest of the fittings. White menuki details sit under the cord at intervals, adding subtle texture without disrupting the wrap pattern.

The tsuba is a round iron guard finished in matte black, cut with a cloud-scroll openwork design that creates negative space across the face. Seated against the guard is a gold chrysanthemum-engraved habaki, providing a sharp metallic accent between the dark guard and the polished steel of the blade. The combination of black iron and gold brass reads as understated but deliberate.

The saya is built from hardwood and finished in a matte black lacquer with a fine speckled texture visible across the surface. The sageo cord wraps the mouth of the scabbard in alternating brown and blue strands, knotted and tied in the traditional fashion. The color of the sageo directly echoes the tsuka wrap, tying the full koshirae set into a cohesive presentation.

This wakizashi replica measures 31 inches in overall length and weighs 3 lb, with a shipping weight of 4 lb in a 33 x 4 x 4 inch package. It is presented as a koshirae-style collectible, with brown-blue cord, black saya, cloud tsuba, and real hamon blade working together as a complete set. The sword stand is not included.

Frequently Asked Questions

What steel and heat treatment does this wakizashi use?

What colors make up the handle wrap and sageo?

What is the tsuba design and what metal is used?
The tsuba is a round iron guard in matte black with a cloud-scroll openwork cutout. A gold brass habaki engraved with a chrysanthemum motif sits between the guard and blade, contrasting the dark iron.

This is my second order from Truekatana.com and I am equally pleased with the quality this time around. Additionally, the shipping was extremely fast (as opposed to my last order which took almost 2 months for reasons unknown). Great quality for the price.

Since this is a review of the delivery and packaging only i can only give it 3 stars. It is obvious that some heavy weight was put on top of the package because the tsuba had punched through the styrofoam and chipped part of the black coating off the tsuba. I repaired it with some black silicone adhesive. Delivery was ahead of time.
