Manganese Steel Katana Natural Wood Saya with Dragon Tsuba - Black Handle, Kanji Engraving

The blade on this katana is forged from high manganese steel and ground to a polished chrome finish, with a flowing hamon line visible along the length of the steel. The edge is hand-finished and the geometry tapers cleanly toward a pronounced kissaki tip - visible in detail in the close-up shots. The tsuka is wrapped in black ito over a PU black samegawa base, tied in the traditional cross-pattern diamond wrap. Three mekugi pins secure the full tang blade through the handle core, and the kashira cap is finished in matching black metal to keep the color story consistent from tip to pommel.

The tsuba is one of the standout elements of this koshirae. Cast from alloy, it features a layered dragon scene in high relief - the black ground is etched with scrolling cloud and scale textures, while gold-toned accents highlight the central rectangular fuchi and the dragon figures at the edges. The black-gold contrast reads well both up close and at display distance.

The saya is natural hardwood left in its warm blonde tone, banded with two sections of black cord wrapping for grip and visual structure. A hand-applied black dragon motif decorates the lower body of the saya, and kanji characters are engraved near the koiguchi opening. The brown sageo cord is tied in a traditional knot at the kurikata, adding a warm contrast to the pale wood.
