Product Details

The blade on this katana is forged from damascus (pattern) steel, producing the characteristic layered surface visible along the length of the red-finished nagasa. The folded steel construction gives the blade both visual character and a resilient full-tang core that runs the complete length of the handle. At 41 inches overall, the proportions follow standard katana geometry with a pronounced curve suited to the koshirae presentation.

The tsuka is built over a hardwood core wrapped in genuine white samegawa (ray skin), then bound with purple cotton ito in a traditional diagonal diamond wrap. White menuki ornaments are seated beneath the ito at the grip windows, visible as small accent points against the samegawa. The overall handle feel is firm and well-fitted, with the wrap tension consistent across the full length of the tsuka.

The gold-tone brass tsuba is the visual centerpiece of the fittings. Cast in an irregular octagonal silhouette, it features a dragon motif rendered in openwork relief with floral carving at the lobes - a hand-finished piece that reads clearly at the junction between blade and handle. The gold coloring bridges the purple ito and red blade without competing with either. This sword is part of our Full Tang Damascus Katana lineup, where folded steel construction meets detailed koshirae fittings.

The hardwood saya is lacquered in a deep black-red base and finished with a dense multicolor speckle pattern in red, teal, and white - visible across the full scabbard length in the product images. A braided purple sageo is tied at the koiguchi in an elaborate decorative knot, matching the ito color and completing the coordinated purple-gold-red palette. Overall length is 41 inches and shipping weight is 4 lb. The sword ships in a fitted box measuring 43 x 4 x 4 inches. Note that a sword stand or display holder is not included. The koshirae-style fittings - matched tsuba, sageo, ito, and saya - make this a cohesive collector piece with strong visual consistency across every component.

  • Forged from damascus (pattern) steel, the red-toned blade displays layered folded patterns across its surface, delivering both visual depth and structural integrity in a full-tang construction.
  • The gold-tone brass dragon tsuba features openwork carving with floral accents - hand-finished metal detailing that anchors the purple-and-gold color story across the entire koshirae.
  • Purple cotton ito is wrapped in traditional diamond pattern over white samegawa (ray skin), with white menuki accents peeking through the lozenge gaps for authentic handle construction.
  • The hardwood saya is finished in a striking black-red lacquer with multicolored speckle detailing, secured by a braided purple sageo cord tied in an elaborate knot at the koiguchi.
  • Overall length 41 inches, shipping weight 4 lb - koshirae-style fittings throughout make this a cohesive collector piece with matched purple, gold, and red color palette.

My girlfriend, who is a life long martial artist, literally went into tears after receiving this as her gift for Christmas. She's wanted a real sword since I first met her over 8 years ago and this Katana totally blew her away. I really appreciate the quick delivery (got here before Christmas) and the great craftsmanship. I'll likely be ordering another one again in the future :)
