Product Details

The blade is forged from T10 high-carbon steel and finished with a hand-polished surface that brings out the natural grain of the steel. A genuine hamon line runs along the edge, produced by the differential hardening process during heat treatment - not etched or applied artificially. The result is a blade with a chrome-toned polished surface and a clearly defined temper line that collectors recognize as a mark of traditional craft.

The handle construction pairs a black cord-wrapped tsuka with a sculpted dragon-relief base layer, giving the wrap a dimensional texture rather than a flat finish. A dragon-head kashira caps the pommel, and a small turquoise accent bead sits near the collar, adding a subtle point of color against the all-black grip. The handle transitions to the blade through a cream-toned fuchi collar that contrasts cleanly with the dark surrounding elements.

The tsuba is one of the most visually distinctive features of this piece. Cast in black iron with gold toning, it uses an open-work lattice design built around a dragon theme - the negative space giving it an intricate, layered appearance. Gold-toned details within the openings catch light at different angles, reinforcing the black-and-gold palette carried through the entire sword. Browse more designs in our Red Dragon Katana collection for additional dragon-theme options.

The saya is covered in black leather and embossed from throat to tip with repeating gold tiger-face medallions - a dense, all-over pattern that gives the scabbard a richly textured appearance. A black leather carry strap with silver D-ring hardware and riveted attachment points runs along the saya's spine, functional and fitted. The black sageo cord completes the lower assembly.

Overall length is 41 inches with a shipping weight of 4 pounds. The sword is full-tang, with blade steel extending through the handle core. At 3 pounds, the assembled piece has substantial presence on a display stand - though the stand is not included. The black-and-gold color scheme, dragon tsuba, and tiger-embossed leather saya make this a visually cohesive piece suited for display or collection.

  • Forged from T10 high-carbon steel with a hand-polished finish, this blade displays a genuine hamon line - the visible result of the traditional heat-treatment process that defines authentic Japanese sword craft.
  • Full-tang construction runs the blade steel continuously through the handle, providing structural integrity across the entire 41-inch length and a balanced feel whether displayed or handled.
  • The black tsuba is cast in an open-work dragon motif with gold accent detailing - a striking centerpiece between blade and grip that anchors the sword's black-and-gold visual theme.
  • Black saya is wrapped in leather and embossed with repeating gold tiger-face medallions along its full length, with a fitted black leather carry strap and silver D-ring hardware.
  • The black tsuka features tightly wound cord wrapping over a sculpted dragon-relief foundation, topped with a dragon-head kashira that completes the handle's dramatic profile.

Very pleased and impressed with the quality of my daisho. It's a perfect match and exactly what I ordered. Both saya almost an identical match.
Hamon on wakizashi and katana are quite evident and authentic in terms of the differential tempering. Stunning for workmanship. I know that any article of warfare should never garner accolades as far as being "beautiful", none the less, this is heirloom quality cutlery and I hope to pass them on one day before I'm spent.
