Product Details

The blade is forged from T10 carbon steel and ground to a full-tang profile, giving the piece its structural backbone. Differential heat treatment produces a genuine hamon line that traces the edge in the raging fire pattern - an undulating wave of crystalline activity visible along the polished steel surface. The chrome-finish blade measures 1.259 inches at the base and tapers to a fine point, with a spine thickness of 0.275 inches. At 40.55 inches overall and 2.8 pounds, the balance sits firmly in the hand without feeling tail-heavy.

The tsuka is built over a real white samegawa foundation - actual ray skin that adds natural grip texture and a subtle pearlescent tone beneath the wrapping. Black cotton ito is woven in the traditional diamond pattern over the samegawa, creating the alternating dark cord and bright skin windows that define classical Japanese handle aesthetics. The interplay of white and black gives the handle a clean, high-contrast look that complements the rest of the koshirae.

At the blade-handle junction sits the gold-tone tiger tsuba, the visual centerpiece of this piece. Rendered in warm gold with a raised tiger figure set against an intricate lattice background, the tsuba carries a bold sculptural quality. A coral-toned accent beneath the tiger adds depth and contrast. For collectors interested in thematic Bamboo Tsuba Japanese Samurai Swords and animal-motif fittings, this tsuba represents a distinct step into more ornate koshirae design.

The hardwood saya is the most visually arresting element of the set. Finished in a deep black base lacquer embedded with multi-color metallic flecks - silver, gold, and blue-green - the saya surface catches light like a night sky. Black sageo cord is laced through the kurigata in a traditional braid, adding a textural anchor to the glossy lacquer. The overall effect bridges traditional craftsmanship with a contemporary aesthetic sensibility that makes this piece stand out among Beautiful Katana offerings.

Nice sword overall. Blade is not sharp like stated in the description, won’t even begin to cut paper. There are some small scratches that I will attempt to buff out.
