The pattern is adhered very well to the surface. The grips and fittings are a bit on the cheap-side but they are designed for "minimalist, tactical use" so they may just what some people are looking for. The blades are still full tang, as evidenced by the great balance point.r

The handle was a touch loose; he tightened it for me. Otherwise, he said that it was a good sword and right for me. The calligraphy on the sword is beautiful and authentic. The scabbard is also beautiful, with plum blossoms, a symbol of the new spring, and beloved in Chinese and Japanese culture. I bought a black sword bag, which also came quickly. It has the kanji for "Dao" or "Way" and gives my new sword the protection and respect that it deserves. For now, the sword is a bit heavy but this serves as motivation for me to practice and improve. So the sword itself is great it feels strong but I didn’t like that it came with practically no edge wich I have sharpened and I wish there was an option for a bigger sword because to me it’s quite small. But my main issue is the scabbard it looks great but there are some type of burn Marks on the metal parts of the scabbard and there is epoxy around the bottom of the black wrapping of the scabbard Also it is very loose and the sword will fall right out of the scabbard wich I don’t like because they are meant to protect the sword from damage, falling out , and the elements wich I will be addressing myself the sword itself is great but true katana your scabbards need a little more effort to secure the swords you sell

This was a present for my 16 yr old son so I am passing on what he has to say about it. He does like it but there is a couple drips of some sort of epoxy or something on the sheath that will require sanding and refinishing of the entire sheath, also there is zero blade retention while sheathed, it wobbles around a little and just falls out very easily. Also It is not balanced at all very forward heavy and could use more weight on the pommel.

With that said he is happy with it as a decorative piece as I do not believe it would hold up to use. I would purchase from Truekatana again for decorative swords.

Beautiful sword! And it arrived very quickly - in time for Christmas, which I appreciate. My tip for others who buy this item is to look for the plastic inside the scabbard (before putting the sword back inside!) I suspect the plastic is there as a wrap around the blade, but the first time I took the sword out, the plastic stayed inside the scabbard. Not understanding this, I put the sword back in, pushing the plastic wrap down to the bottom of the scabbard. Just something to be aware of for future buyers.
