Product Details

This katana features a 28.3-inch blade forged from T10 carbon steel through a combination of traditional folding and clay tempering. The clay tempering process creates a genuine hamon line visible along the edge, while the folded steel produces subtle grain patterns in the body of the blade. With an edge hardness of 60 HRC, the sharpened blade holds a refined edge and showcases the tonal contrast between the hardened ha and softer shinogi-ji. Among our Clay Tempered Katana collection, this piece stands out for its understated all-black theme.

The 10.2-inch tsuka is wrapped in black ito cord over genuine white samegawa rayskin, following a traditional alternating diamond pattern. The white rayskin panels are visible beneath the cord wrap, creating a clean contrast against the black ito. A brass fuchi sits at the base of the handle, introducing a warm gold tone that breaks the monochrome palette.

At the guard, a black alloy tsuba displays an intricately carved lotus flower design with layered petals radiating outward in a circular pattern. The lotus motif carries cultural significance in Japanese aesthetics, symbolizing purity and resilience. The tsuba's dark finish blends seamlessly with the handle and saya while the carved relief catches light at different angles.

The black matte hardwood saya measures 30.3 inches and has a textured finish that gives it a slightly weathered, organic appearance. A black braided sageo cord is tied through a gold-toned kurigata fitting, offering a small but deliberate accent. The koiguchi opening is fitted precisely to the blade's habaki, ensuring a snug draw and return.

At 40.5 inches in overall length and 2.65 lbs in weight, this katana maintains balanced proportions suited for display or handling. The consistent black color scheme across the ito, saya, sageo, and tsuba gives it a unified, stealth-inspired aesthetic. For collectors exploring similar styles, our Black T10 Carbon Steel Katana selection offers additional variations in this material and color range.

This is one of the finest budget class Katanas which you will never go wrong buying. This katana has a sleek design, scabbard feels a bit cheap but for this price it’s still in good quality. For those wondering of the sharpness then I can proudly say this katana will cut through paper easily. Overall I’m very happy with the design and sharpness with my katana, thank you TrueKatana!

So this was a good blade for the price. The sayia is loose but gorilla glue couldn't fix. As for the rest of the sword.

Hamon line isn't a real hammon for T10, but it is there'ish. It will cut but it being dojo ready without a bit of maintenance, it'll get there.

Love the sword. The blade, Saya, and ito all have excellent craftsmanship. My only issue was that one of the fittings as well as the sageo wrap was loose. Other than that can not complain. Worth the money.

This sword is possibly the closest I have come to the "real deal" for an authentic Katana. The blade is impeccably beautiful and the overall characteristics are almost indistinguishable from ancient Tamahagane steel. This is a fantastic value for the price!

Nice quality, feels good in the hands, I haven't tested it's actual usage but I think it's moreso for display or cosplay. It arrived very quickly, I think I ordered it Friday night and it was here Monday morning. Definitely look forward to purchasing more katanas from this site!

Arrived in a timely fashion; especially considering the COVID delays; fittings are tight and solid; saya fit is slightly snug, but, easily remedied; hamon has great shape and very visible; ito wrap on tsuka could be tighter; moves around more than I prefer; other than that, I'm well satisfied with my purchase.
