Product Details

This full tang katana features a folded T10 carbon steel blade that has been clay tempered to produce a genuine hamon line running the length of the 28.34-inch nagasa. The clay tempering process creates a differentially hardened edge at 60 HRC while preserving flexibility in the spine, and the folding process refines the grain structure of the steel. The chrome-toned blade surface lets the undulating hamon stand out clearly, visible in the close-up detail of the kissaki where the temper line sweeps toward the tip.

The 10.62-inch tsuka is built on a hardwood core wrapped first in white PU samegawa, then bound tightly with black cotton ito in a traditional diamond pattern. The contrast between the white rayskin panels and the black cord creates a sharp, clean aesthetic that pairs naturally with the dark sageo and the warm-toned saya.

At the junction of blade and handle sits a gold-and-silver alloy tsuba carved in an intricate dragon motif. The openwork design depicts a coiled dragon amid swirling clouds, with fine detailing on scales and claws. A gold habaki collar with geometric cut-outs sits below the guard, completing the transition from steel to fittings. This level of sculptural detail sets it apart from simpler guards found on many T10 Clay Tempered Katana models.

The 29.52-inch hardwood saya is finished in piano lacquer over a natural burl wood surface, producing a warm orange tone with complex grain figuring that gives each scabbard a unique pattern. A black braided sageo wraps the kurikata, and the koiguchi features a smooth, tight fit. The burl wood grain is especially visible in natural light, creating depth and movement across the surface that elevates this piece among Orange Samurai Sword collectibles.

At 40.15 inches overall and 3.08 lbs, this katana balances visual impact with authentic proportions. Every component - from the folded and clay tempered blade to the dragon tsuba and burl wood saya - is assembled as a cohesive display piece rooted in traditional Japanese sword design.

What makes the orange saya unique on this katana?

What is the dragon tsuba made of and how detailed is it?
The tsuba is crafted from alloy in gold and silver tones, featuring an openwork dragon design with swirling clouds, detailed scales, and claws. A matching gold habaki collar with geometric cutouts sits beneath the guard, adding depth to the overall fittings.

Very nice sword for the money.
I would've liked a cleaner finish on the scabbard. Few rough spots on polyurethane finish. Needed heat, with a fine cloth, applied to it to smooth the very well balanced.

So I ordered 4 swords, one for me and my brothers. The orange dragon theme katana had some dark scuff near the tip and the “real” hamon is definitely painted on or just not done correctly because it if faded off and after cutting the places in which cut through the hamon came off. All the swords were sharp at the tip but was dull the rest of the way down like they didn’t sharpen the whole blade on. Overall, you kinda get what you pay for it. Quality is alright but not the best. If you’re looking for something to hang up and use like once, sure. But if you want a functional quality katana keep looking for reputable brands
