Blue Blade Manganese Steel Katana with Dragon Tsuba - Dark Blue Lightning Saya

The blade is forged from high manganese steel and finished in a deep blue tone that catches light along its curved length. A hamon line runs the full nagasa, adding visual texture that reflects the hand-finishing process. The steel's composition prioritizes toughness, and the full-tang structure ensures the blade extends through the entire handle core - a construction detail that defines the integrity of any serious Blue Blade Manganese Steel Katana.

The tsuka is built on a hardwood core wrapped in blue ray-skin (samegawa) and bound with black cord in a traditional diagonal pattern. The black-blue color combination gives the handle a layered depth - the blue samegawa dots emerge between the cord wraps, creating contrast with the dark binding. A gold-toned kashira caps the end of the handle, visible in the image as a clean metallic accent against the dark cord.

The tsuba is one of the most distinctive elements of this build. Cast in bronze, it features a high-relief dragon design that wraps the circular guard in detailed sculptural form. Below the tsuba, the fuchi carries a circular kamon medallion in a contrasting lighter metal tone - a refined pairing that gives the handguard area an almost layered, tiered appearance when viewed from the side.

The Dark Blue Saya Katana scabbard is lacquered hardwood finished in deep blue with a hand-painted lightning pattern rendered in electric blue. A blue sageo cord is attached and tied at the kurikata, completing the color-coordinated koshirae set.
