The Jian is an elegant double-edged straight sword with a history in China going back 2,500 years. Originally made from bronze, there are perfectly preserved examples of great beauty in museums. The design was adapted as the advancement in steel and metal technology went forward. There have been various styles of Jian from the different periods and dynasties, all having the characteristics of a double edged, elongated blade. Chinese sword versions are replications of Jian using traditional hand forging methods, all solidly put together by expert hands, ready for real use.

Truly happy with the Katana. Obviously not traditional Japanese quality and materials, but for less that 1/10th of the cost of a real one...wow! the craftsmanship is pretty solid. Quick delivery and solid quality. Definitely worth the price and probably better quality than what I expected.

I LOVE THE KATANA; good quality, well-made. Not very much weight to it, but it's sharp, the obsidian black blade came nicely oiled and wrapped (easily slid off), and it's going to be added to my collection. However, one complaint (a minor one) was the plastic wrapping of the katana handle; This wrapping stuck to the handle, was NOT removed easily because once I tried pulling it off, it ripped and kept on ripping into little tiny strips of plastic wrap still stuck to the handle! I had to patiently use tweezers to get the little plastic wrap pieces off of the handle, and it scuffed the nice leather on the handle.
But overall, I am pleased with this katana.
