I was a little skeptical about the quality of the sword. Upon opening the package I could feel the balance of the sword before I unsheathed it. Once unsheathed I was told that impressed l, it felt like an instrument of battle.

It wasn't as attractive as it pictured online, and I had to get my husband to remove the blade from the sheath because there was some kind of plastic wrap inside the sheath which made it almost impossible to open. Not particularly pleased with this overall.

My shirasaya katana arrived quickly and well packaged. This is my very first katana sword and I'm impressed by the craftsmanship of it. This thing is beautiful. I'd say it's moderately heavy but that was to be expected since it's huge slab of metal. I ended up having to hide it away from my kids because it's very sharp. I'm definitely buying a second katana but with a traditional style.

With a crack at the bottom.

A very nice product for a relatively low price. The most obvious shortcoming of the swords isn't very obvious at all, and that is the rough interior of scabbards. Otherwise, the craftsmanship is clean. Shipment was handled well, and packaging thorough, although the blades were overly oiled and some oil had made it's way to the wood handles. The only annoyance has been repeated emails pestering me for this review.

I am very pleased with this sword, It came fast (within 2 weeks), the scabbard fits the blade nicely, a bit tight but that can be fixed easily. It is not razer sharp but is still rather sharp. I am not sure if the hamon is real or acid. Overall a good purchase.
