Frequently Asked Questions

What is folded steel?
Steel that has been repeatedly heated, folded, and forge-welded. The process creates visible layers that appear as flowing grain patterns on the blade surface.
How does folded differ from Damascus?
Damascus is a specific category of folded steel with high layer counts and dramatic patterns. All Damascus is folded; not all folded steel reaches Damascus classification.
Are grain patterns visible on wakizashi?
Yes. The companion-sword scale provides excellent visibility for grain patterns, which are examined at closer range than katana.
Is every folded blade unique?
Yes. The folding process creates unrepeatable grain patterns, making each blade one of a kind.

Super cool sword. Feels relatively sturdy. The fittings were a little messy, I had to file off some excess material but the blade is beautiful. I would say it's a pretty sword with good display value and it makes for some fun if you did want to cut softer objects with it. Although they have a long list of don't do's that's come with the blade. All in all I think the sword is well worth the price. The team is friendly and responds quickly. The shipping was quick as well.

Overall a good product. The blade is excellent, and overall workmanship is quite good.r
Two problems observed:r
The Habaki is loose - it slides back and forth on the blade with a noticeable gap between the notch on the blade and the Seppa.r
The Tsuka-Ito is a bit looser than it should be.r
While I can repair both of these I should not have to do so. The assembly should not have passed inspection.

I received this is perfect condition. Super sharp and you can tell it’s just well built, I liked this specifically cause it’s hard to find the slanted tip on the blade and I think it looks super cool, It’s also hard to find swords that aren’t only decorative, my purpose for buying is decorative but I also want it to be solid and sharp because I don’t want to show off a knock off fake sword, I want to show off something that is legit and this is.

Over all, beautiful blade, fit and finish could be a little better, packaging needs more, the saya had a small chip on the end, the habaki is very loose, and the fuchi is loose, also the tang rocks in the hand when swung, I do understand the price point but everything should still be nice and tight. Other than those issues this is beautiful overall
