Placed the order on July 14th and received the sword today. Apparently when TrueKatana says "in stock" that means in stock in China.....still, the tracking was not bad at all, I could log on and get info anytime, right up until delivery. I admit I was apprehensive about paying this much for a Katana, but I have to say that it has exceeded my expectations and I am very happy with this purchase. r
The fit and finish is absolutely perfect, I cannot find a flaw in this blade, handle or scabbard. It even came with a neat silk lined case that I wasn't expecting. The Hamon is perfect, the blade has a beautiful taper and it is true to all the features of a WWII type 98 Shin Gunto. Anyone worried about the quality matching the price should buy with confidence, you will not be disappointed with this Katana!!!!!!

The katana arrived in a reasonable time frame, coming from China (Hubei Province)via air. The quality was about par for the cost. No authentication nor bill of sale were included as to the composition, methodology, etc. This a fault and should be conveyed with the katana. The advertised sharpness and the Damascus structure was not as distinct. The workmanship on the hilt and the handle was poor. The handle release peg was not visible on the opposite side. No way to remove the handle. The edge will not slice paper as it should as a fine katana. This katana was the work of a mid-level Smith through and through. I'd like to hear from the maker, sharpener, etc.

Did not send me the right sword, or more likely sent me a sword which quality you can tell is not the same piece in picture. The sword is way sub par especially after I spent over a thousand dollars for this sword the blade clay tempering is a joke. I got ripped off make sure ur not next

I purchased 5 katana from 5 separate stores. This one had higher quality and tracking than all the others. The balance was good. The sword stays appropriately in the saya/sheath when turned upside down, and there is no rattle in the saya when you gently shake it.
The sword was able to handle tameshigiri on tatami goza without incident for a 1/4 sized, 1/2 sized, and full-sized roll. Other katana started to chip at the blade, had pulls in the tatami on their cuts, or simply couldn't properly slice.
The only downside is all others came with a bag, and this one did not, but as it is the one that will continue to be used, it is not much of a downside.

Its a good sword for 380 bucks the silk wrap is on there tight and the blade is sharp cuts through paper like nothing. The dragon isn’t red its orange but it still looks good. The sword was as advertised. It was beautiful folded steel and the blade was sharp. It was tight and the rest of the finishing appeared well done.
The only down side is that the blade, while sharp, was not finished completely. It still had some roll-over on it and should have been taken another step farther to remove the little roll-over.
Otherwise, it was worth the price and delivered in a timely manner!

Love the blade! Not sure that the sheath is real snake skin but looks cool regardless. Not a crazy sharp edge which is fine, obviously you can get it sharpened yourself. Overall more than happy with the purchase!
