I bought this Katana as an 18th birthday gift for my son. He’s very involved in martial arts and things of that nature. He went and found the Katana and asked for it as his gift. We were actually blown away by the craftsmanship and beauty of both the katana and the wooden sheath. The Katana itself is gorgeous and so well made the attention to detail is remarkable. The wooden sheath is stunning and looks like a masterpiece itself. We quickly ordered wall mounts and it’s proudly mounted on my son’s wall in his room. It’s a stunning piece to look at and he LOVES having it as part of his decor for his room as well as just an amazing piece of what I’d call art! This set, however, is of curious origins. The blades look amazing as always, a deep blue with an almost purple hue in the light. The Sakura tattoo on the blade and habaki add a classy touch and the engraved blossom on the scabbard is very eye catching and well done.r
However, the katana only has one mekugi peg so I worry about how full the tang is. It feels solid enough, but the habaki was also loose when I got it, and had to be fixed with a spacer... it seems like a corner or 2 was cut with the katana but again, great looking blade. The grip wrapping feels old, like maybe it's been in a warehouse for a while. Not bad, just not the greatest sword I've gotten from truekatana...r

Amazing quality. Everything is snug, tight, and very well-built. The tang is tightly wound with durable ray skin underneath. The end cap of the tang is snuggly fitted. The blade itself, while this will be used for display, is extremely sturdy. r

My main purchasing factor was that True Katana was the only company selling WWII katanas (olive color, rosewood, etc.), and all of the designs and effects are 100% accurate, with the reasonable exception that there is no stamp on the blade (but that's expected, because those forges did not make the blade). With that being said, for what this is, it's well worth the price. r

Also, shipping was very fast considering it came from China to America.
