Frequently Asked Questions

What does fixed blade mean for a tanto?
Fixed blade means the blade is permanently and rigidly attached to the handle with no folding, sliding, or removable components. The full tang runs through the handle and is secured with pins, creating a unified structure.
Are all traditional tanto fixed blade?
Yes. Traditional Japanese tanto are fixed-blade designs with full tangs. The fixed construction is integral to Japanese sword-making tradition, where the blade and handle function as a continuous structure.
How strong is a fixed blade tanto compared to a folding knife?
Fixed blade tanto are significantly stronger at the blade-handle junction than folding designs. With no pivot point to create a potential failure zone, the full-tang fixed construction provides maximum structural rigidity.
What materials are the handles made from?
Our fixed tanto handles follow traditional Japanese construction: a wooden core wrapped in genuine ray skin beneath silk or cotton ito cord. The full tang runs through the entire handle length and is secured with bamboo mekugi pins.

I thought my product was made in Japan… Looks like made in China… good thing blade sharp display doesn’t look bad except handle has wood piece that’s light brown that doesn’t match black they could’ve dyed it. Def worth more around $50-$90 not $150. The little wood part on sword handle bothers me they should’ve dyed it black to blend it in. Other than that honestly it’s just okay and don’t think it was worth the $150
