Very good nice quality katana, although it will wear down quite fast if used for cutting. it is best to be left as display. If you love swords, you will not regret this purchase.

At first the katana its hard to take out from the scabbard so need to trim a little bit in the inside to loosen a bit. Then the piece of wood that is holding the sageo in the scabbard fell off. But all in all the katana is sharp. Good balance of the blade and when you swing the blade it makes a hacking sound, and what I like is the hamon of the blade with a wave like pattern.

The fit and finish is absolutely perfect, I cannot find a flaw in this blade, handle or scabbard. It even came with a neat silk lined case that I wasn't expecting. The Tsuba is a bit thinner than I expected, but that is not necessarily a problem. r
I also note that the balance point is about 5 inches forward of the Tsuba - a bit farther forward than most. It works for me as the sword handles quite well.

My main purchasing factor was that True Katana was the only company selling WWII katanas (olive color, rosewood, etc.), and all of the designs and effects are 100% accurate, with the reasonable exception that there is no stamp on the blade (but that's expected, because those forges did not make the blade). With that being said, for what this is, it's well worth the price. r

Wwii Japanese Type 98 Army Shin Gunto Officer’s Sword

I'm leaving 5 stars but I'd prefer to drop it to 4.8 or 4.9. The sword was perfect. Crafted well, sharpened to a fine blade, and beautiful. The only issue was a minor cosmetic issue where some adhesive had failed and something popped of the sheath. A little super glue and it was fixed though so it wasn't a big deal but something of not for sure. Especially if it was to happen and a small piece was lost and not able to be reattached.
